Anonymous said: So I really want to be able to contribute to the Zosan fandom, and have for a while now, but I honestly don't know how to go about that.. :/ I have one thing that i wrote a while ago and I'm sort of proud of it but I don't know if I want other people to see it /.\ I would be super embarrassed if people were to find out who I was. ;C its not really anything bad but... still
You should share it! The only way to contribute to a fandom is to contribute to the fandom.
I know that it’s a little intimidating at first, but the benefits far outweigh the risks. It is super fun to share ideas with other people in the fandom and, trust me, there is a very special kind of joy that you’ll get from receiving feedback. If you’re worried about how something may be received, have a friend beta/preview it for you. Ask for their honest opinion.
As for people finding out who you are…well, all I can say is that that is part of the beauty of the internet. There is a certain amount of anonymity. You could test drive your content under a different username, if you’re really nervous, and then reveal who you are later. Though, I would argue, that everyone has their niche in the fandom. For every person there is that isn’t interested in what you’ve written/drawn, there are bound to be at least ten more who absolutely love what you have to say. If you stand behind what you’ve created and constantly strive to improve, then there is nothing that anyone could fault you for.
In the end, though, actively participating in a fandom should be fun. Do what you are most comfortable with. Whether you want to make a huge splash or take baby steps or somewhere in between, it’s completely up to you.
